Dream your dreams

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.”

Joel 2:28

When someone tells you they had a dream, what do you do? Do you tune out? Do your ears perk up? Do you dismiss their dream as “silly” or “nonsense”?

In the West, we are typically taught that “left-brain thinking” is the most important: Metrics. Processes. 7-step plans. We often value roadmaps more than far-reaching, grandiose visions.

I’ve met so many people who’ve tried to stop other people’s dreams. Or been told to stop their own:

“You could never do that.”

“That will cost too much money.”

“That will take too long.”

“The odds are stacked against you.”

“That’s too dangerous.”

Any of these sound familiar?

Be careful to notice that the Holy Spirit being poured out leads to dreams. It leads to visions. It leads to prophesies. God’s Spirit is the spark to the flame.

So don’t dismiss other people’s dreams. And don’t dismiss your own. They might be the very thing God has for you, and the very thing that will ignite a revolution.

Remember those famous words that sparked a national movement against injustice…

“I have a dream…”

What’s your dream?
